The USA Network has given the green light to a half-hour comedy pilot from Peter Ocko.
Ocko (“Fairly Legal,” “The Office”) will write and exec produce “Divide & Conquer.”
Last week USA made its first comedy series orders in 15 years when it ordered “Sirens” and “Playing House” and greenlit half-hour pilot “Love is Dead.”
From the press release: “In a world where failure is the new F-word, and normal is the new stupid, Ben and Charlotte are just hoping their kids make it out of the house someday. “Divide & Conquer” gets into the heads of a big family: four children finding their way to adulthood in these complicated times, and the parents whose lives they’re sucking dry to get there. Written and executive produced by Ocko, the pilot is from Universal Cable Productions.”
The network recently acquired off-network rights of “Modern Family,” which will begin on USA in September. “Divide & Conquer” is really the only real family comedy that is compatible with “Modern Family” among those the network has ordered.
USA is also considering picking up “Happy Endings,” the cult ABC comedy. It may also take another shot at the “Paging Dr. Freed” pilot.
Ocko works with Vision Art.
