It was recently reported that ABC's hit soap drama 'Revenge' would be getting a new showrunner for the upcoming third season, with Mike Kelley out and Sunil Nayar taking over. Well Nayar's new team just got bigger today, with Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts joining 'Revenge' as executive producers, part of a new Overall deal the pair have signed with ABC.
Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts have been writing partners since they met at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The pair have worked as writers on 'Beverly Hills, 90210' and made the transition to writer-producers on series like 'Roswell,' 'John Doe,' 'Pushing Daisies,' 'Off the Map' and 'GCB.' The pair have been working with ABC studios since 2010 and this new deal ups their stature at the company.
On Overall deal means that ABC has contracted Berg and Harberts for all of their television creative work as writers and producers throughout the length of the deal--in this case, two years. Berg and Harberts acted as co-showrunners on 'GCB,' formerly titled 'Good Christian Bitches.' 'GCB' was a dramedy that lasted for a single season of ten episodes.
ABC's 'Revenge' is often described as guilty-pleasure television, a soap about intrigue, secrets and double-crosses. The series stars Madeline Stowe and Emily VanCamp. Last week, ABC renewed the drama for a third season, which will see an increase in the influence of Berg and Harberts.
