Jimmy Fallon unveils 'Game of Thrones' parody on 'Late Night'
Everything I see coming from Jimmy Fallon lately makes me like him a little bit more. This time, Fallon has created a Digital Original parody of one of my current favourite television shows, Game of Thrones.
Backstage politics are an accepted part of late night television, especially in the past few months. Fallon has been officially named the successor to Jay Leno over at Tonight Show, and Saturday Night Live’s Seth Myers is poised to take over Fallon’s post on Late Night in February of 2014. If you think about it Game of Thrones is an apt comparison to the politics involved in real life late-night usurping’s.
In the parody, titled Game of Desks, Fallon depicts an Eddard Stark of the Rockefeller world who has to deal with untalented writers with an iron fist and finds himself defending his desk from a very Joffrey-inspired usurper. Fallon’s house band, The Roots, serve as The Night’s Watch and announcer Steve Higgins has the unfortunate distinction of playing the role of the eunuch, Varys.
Some of my favourite parts include Fallon’s ‘direwolf’, the half-naked writer, Daenerys and Drago, and a very special cameo at the end that you will have to watch for yourself to see!
