Veteran broadcast journalist Larry King is taking his talents to Mother Russia.
One of the best known interviewers and hosts is launching the new series "Politics with Larry King" on Russia Today, a Kremlin-backed English language channel.
"I have always been passionate about government and issues that impact the public, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to talk politics with some of the most influential people in Washington and around the country," King said. "I have interviewed every U.S. president since Nixon, and... I appreciate the importance of providing a platform to those with real alternative visions for our country’s future."
The new series will be recorded at RT's Washington DC studios, centering on the political issues of the week. King's move comes three years after parting ways with CNN and his long-running "Larry King Live."
Russia Today's editor in chief Margarita Simonyan pegged the new series as not only a means of bringing more eyes to the network, but more hard-hitting interviews the 80 year old newsman is known for. "Whether a president or an activist or a rock star was sitting across from him, Larry King never shied away from asking the tough questions, which makes him a terrific fit for our network,” Simonyan said.
While no date or time has been announced for the new series, it will be broadcast on RT America as well as online via Hulu.com, Ora.tv, and rt.com.
