A handful of days ago, Cinemax announced that they had found their lead actor for their upcoming action drama series 'Quarry:' Logan Marshall-Green, coming off of his blockbuster appearance in the Ridley Scott feature 'Prometheus.' Now, the Cinemax project has earned itself even more buzz by adding 'Game of Thrones' actor Noah Taylor to the cast, alongside Marshall-Green.
'Quarry' is a drama pilot from Cinemax based on a series of books by Max Allen Collins (who is best known for writing the graphic novel 'Road to Perdition,' on which the Tom Hanks, Paul Newman feature film was based). Written by Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller, 'Quarry' is set in the 1970s and centers on a Marine sniper (Marshall-Green) who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973, finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. Combat-hardened and disillusioned, he’s recruited into a network of contract killers and corruption spanning the length of the Mississippi River.
In the series, Taylor will play Buddy, a hitman who helps Quarry learn the ropes. Both of these actors have proven their talents, with Taylor earning acclaim for his role as Locke on 'Game of Thrones.' Taylor is also known for his feature film work in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'Vanilla Sky.'
At this point, 'Quarry' is in the pilot stage, but a pick-up for this buzzing series seems likely.
