Well I know one thing for sure: Michael Zegen has a damn fine agent.
After appearing on hit series like 'Rescue Me' and 'The Walking Dead,' two of the biggest shows of the past decade, Zegen landed a choice role on the critically-acclaimed seris 'Boardwalk Empire' as the mobster Benny Siegel. So that's three of the biggest shows of the past few years... why not go for a fourth? Deadline is reporting that Zegen will be joining the cast of HBO's smash-hit comedy 'Girls' next season, in an undisclosed role.
The network is keeping details about his character and the number of episodes he will appear in under wraps, but Zegen may fill the void left by the sudden departure of Christopher Abbott, who left the show after two seasons due to disagreements with series creator/writer/star Lena Dunham.
Zegen will also continue on 'Boardwalk Empire' later this fall, giving the actor the best of both worlds. There is no question that Zegen is a great actor who has earned these roles; because of both of these high-profile series, it's possible that we could see Zegen nominated for awards in both dramatic and comedic categories next season.
Adam Driver, another actor on 'Girls,' recently co-starred with Zegen in Noah Baumbach’s 'Frances Ha,' a connection that could have helped facilitate Zegen's casting on the HBO series.
Stay tuned for news regarding details on Zegen's character as soon as it leaks!
