FXX, launching this coming September, has chosen its first original series to be added to the network, which is aiming to appeal to a younger demographic. ‘Chozen’ is an animated comedy series from the minds behind ‘Eastbound & Down’ and ‘Archer’. ‘Chozen’ will be joining ‘Archer’ in the lineup at FXX, as the latter enters its fifth season.
The comedy is about a gay white rapper who has recently been released from prison and is using his new found survival skills to seek redemption outside the walls of his cell. The animated series will use the vocal talents of Bobby Moynihan, Michael Pena, Hannibal Buress, Kathryn Hahn, Nick Swardson, Method Man, Dekernion and Danny McBride. McBride will also be executive producing the series with his team at Rough House Pictures and Adam Reed and Matt Thompson from Floyd County productions (Archer).
“It’s great to be in business with Grant, Danny, Jody, David and Rough House, and this is the perfect first series order for FXX,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions. "Chozen is an outrageous and ballsy comedy, but it’s also a very smart examination of the rap culture.”
This is good news for McBride, who just got news yesterday that the fourth season of his series ‘Eastbound & Down’ will be its last.
