FX Productions CEO John Landgraf broke the news yesterday that the network has decided to drop comedian Russell Brand’s show, ‘BrandX with Russell Brand’, from its lineup. While this news is a bit of a disappointment for fans of the actor/comedian, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Brand will be continuing his working relationship with FX in the very near future, as the network will instead be picking up a pilot revolving around Brand’s life.
According to Landgraf, the pilot will be a “scripted live-action comedy” that will be loosely based on Brand’s own life in the same way that ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ is loosely based on the life of Larry David. If any of you have any knowledge about Brand’s personal life you know that it is quite colorful and full of comedy (as well as some not-so-funny moments). Brand has openly discussed his forays into sex, drugs and alcohol, which were all major addictions for him earlier in his life. A television show based on the more wild-side of Brand could be both extremely funny and interesting, or a complete and total train-wreck.
Would you watch a comedy series based on Russell Brand’s life, or do you think FX should cut their losses and move on?
