The U.K. has plenty of gritty cop dramas to spare, but perhaps its best is 'Luther,' which stars Idris Elba as the titular unpredictable detective. Though it's been almost two years since the show's last episode, series 3 is just around the corner -- Brits will get it in July, while Americans will see it air on BBC America in September.
A new trailer for series 3 reveals some promising details. First, there's the appearance of Sienna Guillory, who plays a potential love interest for Luther. But, more importantly, there's the return of his other love-ish interest, Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson), who was sadly absent for much of the show's second series.
There's plenty of other cool stuff here -- the BBC describes one of the new characters as a "ruthless ex-copper determined to bring [Luther] down." And, of course, Luther's got new cases -- two conflicting ones, it seems. But really, they're just excuses for him to dangle people off buildings and run away from explosions.
"You're a gentle man," Guillory's love interest tells Luther.
"I don't know about that," he replies.
