'Witches of East End,' an upcoming Lifetime drama series based on a novel with the same name written by Melissa de la Cruz, is making a change to its mixture.
Patrick Heusinger, who has appeared on 'Gossip Girl,' 'Royal Pains,' and 'Friends With Benefits,' is leaving his role of Dash Gardiner, the "golden boy" fiancé of Jenna Dewan-Tatum's (yes, the wife of film star Channing Tatum) Freya Beauchamp. Freya is a reluctant witch who is pushed into the "family business" by her mother Joanna, played by Julia Ormond.
The witches reside in Long Island's seaside town of East Haven. Freya's engagement to Dash is the catalyst for Joanna telling her daughters Freya and Ingrid (played by Rachel Boston) about their family's legacy and what they are destined to become.
There is no word at this time about why Heusinger is leaving or if it is his decision or the network's. Filming of the series has begun in Georgia and North Carolina, with an anticipated premiere date of sometime later this year.
Ten episodes have been ordered. Given the names attached to the project and the subject matter, it seems likely that the show will do well and become a hit. Especially if Jenna can twist the arm of a certain someone into doing a guest starring turn.
Maggie Friedman is the showrunner.
