Lauren Graham, the super cool mom from ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Parenthood’, has just struck a deal with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that will turn her debut novel into a television series. Graham’s novel, titled “Someday, Someday, Maybe” is a New York Times bestseller that was released in April of this year.
The novel tells the story of a young actress struggling to find her place and get that “big break” while living in New York City. She has a very specific three-year plan that she is determined to follow to make it in the big city, but is quickly running out of time. With only six months left in her plan she is still waiting tables and living with roommates, and she begins to wonder whether or not she should give it all up and go home.
Graham will be penning the script with DeGeneres signed on as executive producer. The production companies backing the project are A Very Good Production and Warner Bros. TV (which happens to be the company behind seven seasons of ‘Gilmore Girls’).
As a big fan of both Graham and DeGeneres, I am excited to see what comes of this series. The concept is not exactly new and exciting, but the heart, humour and approach that both these women bring to their work could create something really worth tuning in for.
Are you glad “Someday, Someday, Maybe” is becoming a series?
