Josh Groban to appear on 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'
When 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' returns for its ninth season later this year, a well-known singer is coming along for the ride.
Josh Groban, who has acted on 'The Office,' 'Ally McBeal,' 'CSI: New York' and Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job,' has signed up for a guest starring spot on FX's potty-mouthed comedy series. Details of his appearance are not known yet, except that he appears in the episode titled "The Gang Saves the Day" and that he will be playing himself on the show.
Groban has been a plot topic on 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' before. One of the show's main characters, Dee Reynolds (played by Kaitlin Olson) and her sometimes friend Artemis (Artemis Pebdani) are big fans of the singer and call themselves "Grobanites."
During the show's sixth season, the duo had tickets to go backstage at a Groban show in the episode titled "Mac's Mom Burns Her House Down," but only Artemis made it as Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) poisoned Dee, preventing her from attending.
That episode ends with a horrified Dee hearing Artemis on the answering machine, saying that "Groban is feeling frisky," which infuriates Dee.
The ninth season is scheduled to begin in September. However, it will not be on FX any longer, as it is moving to FX's new sister network, FXX.
Trailers have been released by FXX teasing the move already. Here is one of them.
