Former ‘Seinfeld’ star Jason Alexander is excited to be reuniting with his old co-star Michael Richards on the set of the new Kirstie Alley show. The show, titled simply “Kirstie’s New Show” will also bring together Alley and her former ‘Cheers’ co-star Rhea Perlman once again.
"It is a strange and wonderful thing to be working on a brand new show yet surrounded by familiar faces and friends," said Alexander Thursday in a statement, "I'm looking forward to a fun and fabulous time."
Alexander and Richards are best known for their roles as George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer, which they embodied alongside each other for 9 years on ‘Seinfeld’. The comedy series ended 15 years ago, but the pair has not had much opportunity to work together again – until now.
Richards is already cast as a series regular on Kirstie’s show, where he will play Broadway star Maddie Banks’ (Alley) driver. Alexander will be guest starring on the series as Maddie’s agent.
As for the reunion between Alley and Perlman, who will play Maddie’s assistant, Alley says that the pairing has been a long time coming. "We were planning this when we were doing Cheers. We said, 'When Cheers isn't on the air we'll do a show together.'"
