Welcome back to the HBO family, Stellan Skarsgård! Skarsgård (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Avengers) has been cast to star opposite of Logan Marshall-Green in the new Cinemax drama pilot ‘Quarry’. Skarsgård previously worked with the network during an arc on ‘Entourage’, and his son Alexander has made camp there on the hit series ‘True Blood’. Skarsgård is joining a stellar cast which so far includes Marhsall-Green, Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones) and Skipp Sudduth (The Good Wife).
‘Quarry’ is based on novels written by Max Allan Collins, and will be directed by John Hillcoat. The drama will be set in the 1970’s and will centre on a Marine sniper Quarry (Marshall-Green) who has just returned home from Vietnam. It is 1973 and Quarry finds that he is shunned and demonized by his family, friends and community when he tries to fit back in to society after fighting a war.
Skarsgård will play the role of The Broker, a untrustworthy and incredibly shady man who comes across Quarry during this vulnerable time in his life and lures him into his underground criminal organization. As a disillusioned and frustrated vet, Quarry finds that he has become quickly recruited into The Broker’s network of contract killers and immersed in a world of corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.
