Two new cast members announced for 'Veronica Mars' film
Two more 'Veronica Mars' alums have signed on for movie duty.
Three hours after Rob Thomas announced that Krysten Ritter would be returning to her role of Gia Goodman for the Kickstarter-funded film, he sent contributors a second email saying that Ryan Hansen was back in as well. Hansen will once again be playing Dick Casablancas.
"G-G-G-Gia!!!! I'm thrilled to be reprising my role of Gia Goodman in the Veronica Mars movie!!! It's gonna be very juicy," Ritter said of the news. "Veronica Mars has a special place in my heart because it was my first big acting job (!!!!!!) and it was also one of the most lovely on-set experiences you could ever ask for. This will truly be an awesome shoot, not only because we all get to be reunited (can't WAIT!) but because of the revolutionary way this all was able to come to life!"
While Gia only appeared in eight episodes during the show's run, Dick was a much bigger part of the cast, appearing in 52 out of 64 episodes. He was made a series regular in the show's second season after recurring in the first.
"In the video that launched our Kickstarter campaign, the first person you saw on screen was Ryan Hansen, just sitting in Kristen’s living room and laughing. At me, it turned out," Thomas said. "Almost a year and a half after directing Ryan in that video, it's a relief to admit what many of you have suspected all week: Ryan Hansen will return as Dick Casablancas."
Hansen thanked viewers for funding the film in a video that was posted to YouTube.
The film begins production next week.
Other cast members announced as returning (and their roles) include Kristen Bell (Veronica), Enrico Colantoni (Keith), Jason Dohring (Logan), Percy Daggs III (Wallace), Tina Majorino (Mac), Francis Capra(Weevil), Brandon Hillock (Deputy Sacks), Kevin Sheridan (Sean), Jonathan Chesner (Corny), Sam Huntington (Luke), Amanda Noret (Madison), Daran Norris (Cliff) and Chris Lowell (Piz).
