The CW's breakout hit 'Arrow' will be releasing its first season on DVD & BluRay come September. While the action-packed series is reason enough for fans to be eager to get their hands on the DVD/BluRay combo pack pictured above, the list of special features released today should have them salivating.
Slated to be released on September 17, 'Arrow' Season One will include all twenty-three episodes from 'Arrow's inaugural season. Starring Stephen Amell as the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow, 'Arrow' follows Oliver Queen as he returns from years marooned on a mysterious island. Presumed dead, Oliver arrives in Starling City with the skills and experience he gained on the island, determined to use his abilities to clean up the city and fight crime. The series garnered critical acclaim for its impressive fight sequences, special effects, and compelling storytelling week after week.
The special features included in the Season One release of 'Arrow' on September 17 are as follows:
- Arrow Comes Alive! - From the minds of Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg comes Arrow, with its solid nod toward the roots of the famous DC Comics character. These two creative forces, along with their stellar cast, will guide this documentary, as they describe their modern update of the Green Arrow for a television audience.
- Arrow: Fight School/Stunt School (featurette) - From expertly choreographed fights, to stunts that give feature films a run for their money; Arrow takes aim to present the best that television can offer. Experience the extraordinary effort that goes into each stunt sequence.
- Deleted Scenes
- Gag Reel
- Arrow/ at Paley Fest 2013 - Highlights from the Paley Fest 2013 Arrow panel, including the cast and producers.
Somewhat disappointing to see that there won't be any commentary tracks included; maybe fans can make some noise to ensure that commentaries will be included on the DVD/BluRay of the second season. 'Arrow' was renewed for a full second season on The CW back in February of this year. With the finale of the first season wrapping up a few weeks ago, fans were left with a shock, wondering what to expect from 'Arrow's second season.
When asked by IGN how Oliver would handle 'Arrow's explosive finale, Stephen Amell said the following:
"The reason that he was the vigilante, the Hood, all that stuff is gone now. Merlyn’s been stopped, the list is essentially somewhat obsolete, the Glades are destroyed. If he’s going to become the vigilante again or something different, he’s gonna need a new reason."
What do you think of the released special features? Will you be buying the DVD or BluRay of 'Arrow' season one in September?
