The director/executive producer of “Wilfred” will direct another FX comedy pilot.
Randall Einhorn has an overall deal with FX Productions, which will allow him to direct “Death Pact” starring Tracy Morgan (“30 Rock”).
“Death Pact” features a formerly lazy, marijuana-selling assistant high school coach (played by Morgan) who comes back to his hometown as a decorated war hero. He ropes in three friends who are down on their luck and some former students into his unconventional self-help philosophy.
Rob Long (“Sullivan & Son,” “Cheers”) and Tad Safran (“The Long Weekend”) co-created “Death Pact.” The two will write and exec produce along with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.
“Needless to say anything starring Tracy Morgan could be off-the-charts hilarious and we’re betting this one is,” Nick Grad, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development for FX, said in a release announcing the show. “Rob Long, Tad Safran, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum have delivered a terrific starring vehicle for Tracy. We look forward to casting the other three co-stars and getting started with production. This is going to be fun.”
Einhorn has also directed and produced episodes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” also on FX. Other credits include “Nurse Jackie” “Shameless,” “Up All Night,” “Parks and Recreation” and “The Office.”
FX Productions will produce the pilot, which films this summer in either New York or New Jersey.
Einhorn is represented by WME, Odenkirk Provissiero and Bloom Hergott.
