Selma Blair officially fired from 'Anger Management'

Charlie Sheen & Selma Blair in 'Anger Management'

Well that was fast. Just yesterday morning, we posted this article about an on-set rift between 'Anger Management' stars Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair. The word was that Blair had complained about Sheen's work ethic, and now Charlie wanted her gone from the show.

Sure enough, 'Anger Management' producer Lionsgate quietly issued the following statement last night making Blair's departure official: "We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best." It would appear that Mr. Sheen is still indeed "winning".

According to further details provided by Deadline, Sheen initially fired Blair via text and what's more, he apparently called her the dreaded "C word" within that message. Even worse, this is said to be far from the first expletive-laced communication the actress received from her co-star and executive producer. Blair is also evidently not the only member of the 'AM' cast and crew to be sick of Sheen's behavior. Unfortunately for her, she's the only one who elected to address their concerns with the show's higher-ups.

Blair's role as Dr. Kate Wales, Charlie's therapist, will not be re-cast. Instead, producers plan to use the upheaval as an opportunity to further re-tool the show creatively. They hope these changes will help the comedy return to its former ratings glory. The series will remain in production, and the alterations will be incorporated into the show on the fly. Blair isn't entirely being shafted however, as she will continue to get paid as per her existing contract. The last thing Lionsgate wants is a lawsuit.

Do you think Selma Blair deserved to be fired?

I enjoyed Selma's character. I will miss her as an actor. Even enjoyed her in Portlandia. She's sexy!

I actually like this show, and for someone who doesn't get on with Charlie, Selma certainly doesn't show it when in character. I love their relationship. Who said she can't act?

Yes lets treat a fellow worker like crap then re-tool the show to be even better. Way to stick up for people. Who would want to work for someone like that?

Looks like Charlie wants more publicity... I've never seen the show and never plan to... I avoid anything with his name on it.

Just another example of Charlie Sheen being his "bad boy" self. Too bad he's not even close to being a boy anymore. As far as the show is is concerned, the writing is too canned and really could use some punching up. I really don't know too much about Ms. Blair as an actress, but given what she had to work with I really can't be too critical of her. If Lionsgate is really going to pay her to the end of her contract and she's not constrained against working by taking their checks, she really got the better end of the deal. Plus she doesn't have to deal with Charlie anymore.

I wonder who his next target will be and how Lionsgate will react?

I watched the first several episodes of the first season and desperately tried to enjoy the show but it was just "too" scripted. the jokes are worse than raymond and the acting is at the same level of a soap. selma might be better if she started her own show on a daytime network on a high number channel, than attempt any more primetime shows.

Charlie Sheen is like a spoiled brat....say something true but unflattering and he immediately wants revenge. So sick of this guy. This show isn't even very good (only the 1st couple of episodes of the 1st season worth a view) and I don't know anybody that watches this show. Sheen thinks he's some sort of over-paid "big-shot" when really he's just a "big-shit" loser. He should be on his knees giving thanks to the Lionsgate gods for giving him another chance.

It sounds as though she didn't deserve to be fired for this, but, she did deserve to be fired for being an absolutely awful actress.
