Well that was fast. Just yesterday morning, we posted this article about an on-set rift between 'Anger Management' stars Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair. The word was that Blair had complained about Sheen's work ethic, and now Charlie wanted her gone from the show.
Sure enough, 'Anger Management' producer Lionsgate quietly issued the following statement last night making Blair's departure official: "We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best." It would appear that Mr. Sheen is still indeed "winning".
According to further details provided by Deadline, Sheen initially fired Blair via text and what's more, he apparently called her the dreaded "C word" within that message. Even worse, this is said to be far from the first expletive-laced communication the actress received from her co-star and executive producer. Blair is also evidently not the only member of the 'AM' cast and crew to be sick of Sheen's behavior. Unfortunately for her, she's the only one who elected to address their concerns with the show's higher-ups.
Blair's role as Dr. Kate Wales, Charlie's therapist, will not be re-cast. Instead, producers plan to use the upheaval as an opportunity to further re-tool the show creatively. They hope these changes will help the comedy return to its former ratings glory. The series will remain in production, and the alterations will be incorporated into the show on the fly. Blair isn't entirely being shafted however, as she will continue to get paid as per her existing contract. The last thing Lionsgate wants is a lawsuit.
Do you think Selma Blair deserved to be fired?
