FX Networks has given a half-hour comedy script by a former “Saturday Night Live” writer a pilot order.
“Man Seeking Woman” comes from Simon Rich and Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video.
The project is based on the humorist/novelists’ book “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.”
Jonathan Krisel (“Portlandia,” “Saturday Night Live”) will direct the pilot from Rich’s script. Krisel and Rich will exec produce with Broadway Video for FX Prods.
Rich (son of “New York Times” columnist Frank Rich) spent four seasons, from 2007-2011, on “Saturday Night Live,” where he was the youngest writer in that show’s history. He then moved on to writing for Pixar Studios. He also wrote his first book, “Ant Farm: And Other Desperate Situations,” while he was still a Harvard undergraduate editing “The Harvard Lampoon.” Jason Reitman optioned his first novel, “Elliot Allagash.”
This is Broadway Video’s third cable comedy pilot in the past year, along with the Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin project and “People in New Jersey” at HBO. Riddle and Salahuddin came from “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” which is also from Lorne Michaels.
Rich is represented by CAA and the Levine Greenberg Literary Agency. Krisel is repped by CAA, Mosaic and attorney Alex Kohner, while Broadway Video is with CAA.
