As a man who lives near the Kentucky border (Cincinnati represent!), FX's 'Justified' has made me even leerier of ever stepping foot in my neighboring state (kidding! Lexington and Louisville are fantastic places!).
Of course, if my wife knew that Timothy Olyphant was there, I would probably be dragged there regardless.
'Justified' completed its fourth season earlier this year and is preparing for its fifth, which premieres in January of 2014. One of the show's main stars is Joelle Carter, who plays Ava Crowder. Crowder has been a part of the show since the first season and, right off the bat, we saw that things were not what they seemed in her little section of Eastern Kentucky.
“When you meet Ava, she’s just born again in a way. She’s given herself her own freedom from a very confined relationship. She was abused,” said Carter. “She wants so much to go out into the world she’s missed for so many years. When she gets out there, she finds out it’s not quite the place she expected.”
As the show moves along, Crowder struggles with her life choices and desperately seeks acceptance, even if it causes her to become a person willing to cross any line necessary. Her relationship with Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) seems like it cannot end any way except poorly, for everyone involved.
Heading into the upcoming season, it seems like things between Boyd and Raylan Givens (Olyphant) are poised to explode – with Ava likely being caught in the crossfire.
“As we go into season 3 and 4, she’s marrying into a new way of life. She’s married into the outlaw world and she immerses herself in that in season 4,” Carter added. “We get to see her struggle with the fact that she’s not really an outlaw, but she’s kind of found a place she belongs and she so desperately wants to fit in."
What do you think is going to happen on the show this season?
Here is a video of some of Ava and Boyd's "greatest hits."
If your wife would force you to head down to KY, you'd have Joelle Carter as eye-candy to make up for it - not a bad trade off, IMO. Plus Louisville IS an awesome city. I'd rather be there than Cincinnati, no offense.
