A “Cheers” alum’s new TV Land sitcom has loaded up more stars.
Kirstie Alley’s show “Kirstie” (formerly titled “Giant Baby”) sees Alley’s character Madison Banks’ life turned upside down when a son she gave up when he was born (played by Eric Petersen) appears in her life.
Kristin Chenoweth, Kristen Johnston and Cloris Leachman will guest star on the show. Leachman (“Raising Hope”) will appear as Shirley Kluszewski, Madison’s estranged mother who is opinionated and lives hard.
Chenoweth (“Pushing Daisies,” “The Good Wife”) plays Britney Gold, Maddie’s understudy who will stop at nothing to get the spotlight. When Maddie finally offers her the chance to go on, in exchange for an unusual request, Britney doesn’t give it a second thought.
Johnston (“3rd Rock from the Sun”) plays another Madison Banks, a former aspiring actress turned dive coffee shop waitress. She thinks Alley’s Banks took a career-making role from her, which sent her life down the tubes.
Xosha Roquemore (“The Mindy Project”) is also in “Kirstie’s” cast.
Alley recently appeared in “Fat Actress.” She also starred on “Veronica’s Closet,” though her role as Rebecca Howe on “Cheers” originally put her on the map.
“Kirstie” will also host a “Seinfeld” reunion. Jason Alexander (who we all know played George Costanza) will guest, as will Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer, of course), Maddies’ driver on the series. “Curb Your Enthusiasm” also hosted a reunion in recent years, with the actors playing themselves for a fictitious “Seinfeld” reunion.
TV Land has had success with original series, with “Hot in Cleveland” and “The Exes” giving them new programs with familiar faces.
