Netflix decided to take pointers from political campaigns to promote its very first ‘Emmy’ campaign. The network has been distributing some For Your Consideration lawn signs in support of its original series ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Arrested Development’.
The lawn signs began popping up about a week and a half ago on the well-watered front lawns in upscale neighborhoods of Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, Studio City and Los Feliz. It is no coincidence that these neighborhoods boast a high concentration of residents that also happen to be TV Academy voters.
For those who agree to have a sign posted on their lawn, Netflix is offering each homeowner a choice of a six-month Netflix subscription, a $50 donation to the Red Cross in their name or a $50 AmEx gift card. The campaign will be continuing until this coming Friday, when votes for all ‘Emmy’ nominations are due. This most recent campaign complements Netflix’s previous attention grabbing stunts which include FYC billboards for both ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Arrested Development’ as well as a Rollin’ Rib BBQ food truck promoting ‘House of Cards’ that offered card-carrying LA Academy members a free lunch.
What do you think of Netflix’s lawn signs? Would you want one in your yard?
