Fans of the thriller series "The Following" were left hanging as the first season drew to a close. Serial killer Joe Carroll was presumed dead, but just as it seemed the worst was over for FBI veteran Ryan Hardy, one of Carroll's devotees took the ultimate retribution.
No doubt writer Kevin Williamson has plenty of chills in store when the series returns for its sophomore season next year, and lead Kevin Bacon dropped some hints as to what viewers can expect.
Those who saw the shocker of a finale might be surprised to learn that the actor sees his character, FBI veteran Ryan Hardy, as becoming more centered in the coming season. Bacon hinted that the second season could see Hardy "a more together guy," less tortured and dependent on vodka. "There's the idea that we may jump ahead in time," Bacon said.
"My discussions with [showrunner] Kevin [Williamson] have been in very broad strokes, but what I really respond to... is the idea that when you next see Ryan, he's in a very different place in his life."
Executive producer Marcos Siega added, "What I can say about season two is that it's a very different season, but at the same time it will feel like a continuation of the story. There's no way to tell the same story again; we can't have the exact same moments of jeopardy, because then people will get bored and it's predictable."
What do you think is in store for Hardy and his FBI crew next season?
