'Anger Management' bumps Brian Austin Green up to series regular

As one co-star exits, another is ushered in.

On the heels of cutting loose Selma Blair from its cast, "Anger Management" has bumped previous guest star Brian Austin Green up in the rotation. Deadline reports that Green has signed on as a series regular beginning sometime in the midseason.

The "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" actor guest-starred as the boyfriend of Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Jen ("Saw"'s Shawnee Smith). When he returns, producers are eyeing him as a potential male foil for Sheen's anger management therapist.

Reportedly, producers are also looking for another series regular to join the comedy, with casting directors currently on the lookout for a "gorgeous" and "sexy" Latina actress in her 30s or 40s to play a new psychiatrist character. Rumors were that Sheen was eyeing Mila Kunis ("Black Swan") for the role in a multi-episode arc.

The new character would essentially pick up where the departing Kate (Selma Blair) left off, partnering with Sheen's character on a sex study. The casting release stated "if Charlie and Kate were like Sam and Diane on Cheers, then you are Rebecca. Tough, career-driven, neurotic and you wear your heart on your sleeve. And you hate yourself for eventually becoming attracted to Charlie." Blair was let go from the series after the actress butted heads with the series star one too many times.

Green most recently showed some deft comedic chops on the short-lived TBS sitcom "Wedding Band." Are you excited for the new addition to the sitcom?
