WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE THIRD SEASON OF 'BOARDWALK EMPIRE' FOLLOW, BELOW!!
Okay, two capitalized, bold warnings should be sufficient.
When we last saw our favorite 'Boardwalk Empire' characters, full-scale war had broken out in Atlantic City. With bodies piling up on both sides of the conflict, no character was safe and 'Boardwalk Empire' began gushing buckets of blood.
Nucky struck a deal with Rothstein, Gillian attempted to kill Rosetti, Richard stormed Gillian's house... the double-crosses and underhanded dealings are myriad and it has only driven the anticipation for the fourth season of 'Boardwalk Empire' to a fever-pitch.
HBO has released a new trailer for 'Boardwalk Empire's fourth season, which you can watch below. The trailer gives an idea of what's in store for Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), and also introduces a couple of exciting new characters: Dr. Valentin Narcisse (played by Jeffrey Wright) and Roy Phillips (played by Ron Livingston). Wright is recognizable for his role in the James Bond feature film 'Casino Royale,' along with an appearance in the hit Jake Gyllenhaal film 'Source Code.' Ron Livingston is known for starring in the cult comedy 'Office Space' and also for his recurring role on 'Sex & the City.'
'Boardwalk Empire' is loosely based on the true story of Enoch L. "Nucky" Johnson, a gangster from New Jersey who ended up controlling a racket in Atlantic City. You'll notice that Buscemi's character in the series is named Nucky Thompson rather than Johnson--this is due to the fact that producers of the show wished to retain creative control over their stories. While Johnson is certainly the basis for the Thompson character, the creators of 'Boardwalk Empire' are free to deviate from history where they see fit.
'Boardwalk Empire' returns for a fourth season on September 8!
