Just last week, TVRage brought you the news that long-time 'The View' co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck was leaving the show to go work on 'FOX & Friends'. ABC has today confirmed that Hasselbeck's spot will be filled with another attractive, sometimes controversial blonde.
Actress, model, and TV personality Jenny McCarthy will be joining 'The View' this fall. McCarthy, who first rose to fame as a Playboy cover girl and host of MTV dating show 'Singled Out,' is no stranger to 'The View' set. She has already made seventeen prior visits to the show, including eight appearances as a special guest co-host. 'View' founder Barbara Walters will also be leaving the show next summer, leaving one more vacancy yet to be filled.
Walters offered these comments: "Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for 'The View.'”
For her part McCarthy had this to add: "I’m beyond thrilled … I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off." McCarthy also thanked VH1, who allowed her to take the 'View' gig despite her still being under contract. As a result, it would seem that the ratings challenged 'The Jenny McCarthy Show' isn't long for this world.
Jenny McCarthy joins 'The View's panel on September 9th; the program's 17th season premiere. Do you think she'll be a good addition?
