As a male in my mid twenties, a show like 'Hot in Cleveland' isn't exactly my cup of tea (glass of beer). However, this news is possibly the only thing that would convince me to watch this show. It has just been announced that TV Land's most popular show, 'Hot in Cleveland', is soon to have a Russian adaptation made. Avoiding all "In Soviet Russia..." jokes, 'Hot in Cleveland' or as I call it 'Golden Girls 2.0' should adapt well to Russian television. Other shows that have had success with a Russian adaptation are 'Everybody Loves Raymond', 'Prison Break' and 'How I Met Your Mother'.
In the American version of 'Hot in Cleveland' three best friends in their forties move from Los Angeles to Cleveland when they discover that the men from Cleveland find them more attractive there. The Russian version will feature a group of women moving from the big city of Moscow to a small town. It will follow the same basic story but hopefully will feature much more vodka and dash cams.
The Russian 'Hot in Cleveland' will premiere on July 29th. I think the show should be called 'Hot in Кливленд', but maybe that's too literal. I know I would love to watch any show showcasing a Russian Betty White (A White Russian), but how do you think the show will fare overseas?
