Sally Richardson has reportedly been let go after a pilot read-through for ‘Downwardly Mobile’ that happened yesterday. Roseanne Barr the celebrated comedienne, who is at the helm of this project, was initially keen on Salli being a part of it. She stood by her decision despite the fact that Richardson, a veteran of the stage, was having trouble adapting to a multi-camera comedy format that the show has. She stuck by her decision nearly till the end, but was forced to change her mind at the pilot read-through.
Roseanne in the end probably decided to do the thing that was best for the show, and followed her head instead of her heart in making this decision. Salli Richardson shall be replaced by Tricia O’Kelly, another veteran, albeit of television. She has possibly been chosen for the part owing to fact that, she did quite a good job on the sitcom ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’. Most importantly unlike Richardson, she is familiar with the muti-camera format, given her past experience.
The show is about a high-society wife who is married to a hedge fund manager, involved in Ponzi schemes. She ultimately ends up as a lower middle class wife living in a mobile home community. Besides Tricia, the other cast members include veterans like John Goodman, Roseanne Barr, and other familiar faces. The show will premiere on NBC this year.
