The up and coming NBC drama ‘The Blacklist’ has officially cast Parminder Nagra as a series regular, according to TVLine.
Nagra will play Agent Margot Malik, alongside James Spader’s character, Raymond “Red” Reddington. Spader’s character is one of the Most Wanted fugitives in the nation. Red ends up aiding the FBI, especially agent Elizabeth Keene (Megan Boone), in the hunt for a “blacklist” of bad guys like mobsters, spies and international terrorists. Nagra’s character will act as a mentor to Agent Keene.
If we’ve learned anything from Spader’s past roles, including Alan Shore on ‘Boston Legal’ and ‘The Practice’ and the insufferable Robert California on ‘The Office,’ he will do a fantastic job at playing a fugitive.
The same goes for Nagra, who has starred in several hit shows illustrating her versatile acting talents. Last time Nagra graced the small screen as a series regular was on FOX’s short-lived drama ‘Alcatraz,’ where she played Dr. Lucy Banerjee. She also played a doctor, Neela Rasgotra, on the longstanding NBC hit medical drama ‘ER.’ Though this isn’t TV-related, some might recall Nagra for her breakout role in the soccer movie ‘Bend It Like Beckham,’ alongside Keira Knightley and ‘The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi.
Catch ‘The Blacklist’ premiere on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. EST.
