ABC Family has bitten the proverbial bullet and ordered a third season of 'Switched at Birth.' Groundbreaking in its use of American Sign Language as one of its main forms of expression, Switched holds true to the statement by ABC family executives it gave here: “ABC Family has always been a home for groundbreaking storytelling with iconic characters.”
While Bay and Daphne may be headed to college soon, there is still a good deal of story left to tell. 'Switched at Birth' claimed the unique spot of having the only episode done almost exclusively in ASL. Additionally it touts a well-rounded cast, including the 'Children of a Lesser God' alumni, Marlee Matlin. Lucas Grabeel, Toby Kennish, is of course a hit with the teenagers from his stint on 'High School Musical' as Sharpay’s brother Ryan. Last but not least, Constance Marie, Regina Vasquez, has a plethora of credits including her work in 'Selena' as Marcella Quintanilla and her long stint on the 'George Lopez Show.'
This most recent season for the cast has seen the return of Chef Jeff, who broke Daphne’s heart. As well as Ty, Bay’s ex, from Afghanistan. Will Toby make it to the altar? Will Angelo get his little girl back? With another season on the pipeline we are promised to get the answers we need.
