Who is ready for ‘Fringe’ actress Anna Torv to make her return to the small screen? Well, Torv fans can rejoice, because the actress is making her way to a new HBO drama pilot from ‘Glee’s Ryan Murphy.
After starring as Olivia Dunham for five seasons on ‘Fringe,’ Torv is all set to star in Murphy’s pilot ‘Open,’ which is a multi-character exploration of ‘the complex, ever-evolving landscape of sexuality, monogamy and intimacy in relationships.’
This is a different type of role for Torv who will play Windsor and lesbian lover to Jennifer Jason Leigh’s (‘Revenge’) character, and lover to Grace (yet to be cast). Not much has been said about Leigh's role, but Grace is a gynecologist who is married to sports agent Jonathan (Scott Speedman), who becomes confused about her sexuality, after an affair with Windsor.
‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘American Beauty’ actor Wes Bentley also stars in the project as Evan, a cocky individual who loves delivering his own theories on human sexuality.
Of course, Murphy is known for ‘Glee’ and FX’s ‘American Horror Story,' but this is Murphy’s second HBO project, as later this year he will start production on ‘Normal Heart,’ an adaptation of Larry Kramer’s Tony-winning play, with hopes for a premiere in 2014. ‘Glee’ alum Jonathan Groff and ‘Friday Night Lights’ actor Taylor Kitsch are set to star.
First ordered in April, ‘Open’ has not officially been picked up. Murphy and Lauren Gussis, known for ‘Dexter,’ both wrote the pilot and will executive produce.
