David Conrad Books Top-Secret Role on 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'
The latest news out of ABC's biggest hope this fall, 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' is that 'Ghost Whisperer's David Conrad has been cast in a role in the series. What sort of role? Well now, that information would take Level-Seven clearance...
Much like almost every other role cast in the newest Marvel venture, Conrad's casting is shrouded in secrecy with little information being divulged about what his character will be. ABC's upcoming action-drama 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' was already red-hot with buzz and anticipation. Blockbuster feature film writer and director Joss Whedon wrote the series, as he has such smash hits as 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel.' Fan-favorite actor Clark Gregg is returning to reprise his fan-favorite role from 'Marvel's The Avengers,' Agent Phil Coulson. And to top it all off, there have been the rumors of various Marvel character appearances and cameos throughout the series. The addition of proven hand David Conrad is sure to keep those fires stoked and burning.
There has been speculation that Conrad will be playing a quirky scientist, as a casting call breakdown for such a character came out of ABC weeks ago that matches Conrad's description. However, given the cornucopia of quirky scientists in the Marvel comics universe, it's quite possible that Conrad could be playing a character near and dear to fans' hearts.
An interesting tidbit related to this story: Conrad petitioned several times--unsuccessfully--to be cast as an antagonist on Joss Whedon's breakout series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' Funnily enough, Conrad will finally achieve his goal of working on a Whedon series, albeit several years later than he'd hoped for.
