Todd Holland Developing Sci-Fi Thriller at NBC

Todd Holland Developing Sci-Fi Thriller at NBC

‘Go On’s Todd Holland has gone on and found himself another gig with NBC, this time delving into the exciting world of science fiction. Holland, a writer, director and producer, has sold NBC a new drama that will be based on immortal humans. I wonder if the show itself will have as invincible a mortality as its characters?

The project, which has yet to be titled, is being called an action-drama revolving around these immortal humans who have lived side by side with use humans for the past 3,000 years. The main character will be a man named Jack who is an enforcer and bounty hunter, not to mention being immortal himself.

Holland will use his writing, producing and directing skills to bring this drama to life along with the help of executive producers Chris Brancato (‘Hannibal’, ‘Terra Nova’) and Karey Nixon Burke (‘Go On’, ‘Free Agents’).

This project comes on the heels of what I think can safely be called a sci-fi bonanza. Almost all of the major networks have been picking up and developing sci-fi projects including FOX’s J.J. Abrams project ‘Almost Human,’ ABC and Joss Whedon’s ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ CBS and Josh Holloway’s ‘Intelligence’ and The CW’s ‘The Tomorrow People.’

Here's hoping that this project turns out better for Holland than ‘Go On,’ which was cancelled by NBC after only a single season back in May. Does this new sci-fi drama sound like something you would like to watch?

Been done before; The Immortal, 1969, with Christopher George; The Immortal, 2000, with Lorenzo Lamas; Wolverine (and the X-Men series), yada, yada, yada. Why not something original, like E.E. Knight's David Valentine series?

Yeah, was gonna say ... Highlander anyone ? Immortal humans .... how original. If there's 3 things we don't need anymore of it's Vampires, Zombies and super humans. But I suspect we'll get plenty more of all 3 soon enouhg.

There can be only one!.. umm.. okay as long as the storyline doesn't involve immortals with swords trying to behead one another I'd at least watch the first couple of episodes.
