Kelly Rutherford, who is best known for playing Lily van der Woodsen on The CW’s ‘Gossip Girl,’ is moving from the Upper East Side to Charleston, South Carolina. That’s right, the actress is heading to CBS’ new midseason drama ‘Reckless,’ HuffPost TV has exclusively reported.
Rutherford will play Joyce, a “stoic” and “shark-like” City Council member who doesn’t answer to anyone below her. Joyce is dedicated to working her way up the political ladder, and she just might find herself involved in quite the legal scandals.
For those who haven’t heard, ‘Reckless’ is a Southern legal drama about a beautiful Yankee lawyer, Jamie Sawyer (Anna Wood, ‘Deception’), and a charming southern attorney and divorced father of two, Roy Rayder, played by ‘Twilight’ actor Cam Gigandet. The two have a strong physical attraction, but must hide their feelings when a police sex scandal emerges.
Rutherford is no stranger to portraying someone living in a cutthroat world filled with secrets, as she did in ‘Gossip Girl’ alongside Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley. She’ll fit perfectly inside the ‘Reckless’ series. Rutherford has also starred in ‘Melrose Place,’ ‘E-Ring’ and ‘The District.’
Are you pumped to see Rutherford back on the small screen?
Gregory Harrison and ‘CSI: Miami’ actor Adam Rodriguez are also set to star in the new series.
Be sure to keep an eye out for ‘Reckless’ to premiere midseason on CBS.
