Justin Kirk has landed himself a leading role in the new FX drama pilot ‘Tyrant,' and his character will be an exciting and mysterious man.
‘Tyrant’ is a pilot that I am looking forward to very much. Hailing from ‘Homeland’s’ Mark Gordon and Gideon Raff as well as ‘Six Feet Under’s Craig Wright, I am expecting something exciting and gripping from this show. Raff will be writing the pilot and executive producing with the help of Gordon and Wright. The pilot will be directed by David Yates. The pilot episode, and the series, should have a very similar feel to ‘Homeland.' Raff is the man who is almost entirely responsible for ‘Homeland,' having written and created every episode of ‘Hatufim’, the Israeli series that inspired ‘Homeland.'
‘Tyrant’ follows a completely ordinary American family, husband and wife Barry and Molly and their children. However, this idyllic family is somehow drawn into the working of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. So where does Kirk fit in to this plot? Kirk will play the role of John Tucker, “a sexy, decadent and mysterious American diplomat with a hidden agenda.’
This project will mark the return to network cable television for Kirk, who’s last substantial small-screen gig was on Showtime’s drama ‘Weeds.' Kirk starred on the ill-fated NBC comedy ‘Animal Practice’ earlier this year, but has not had any other television credits recently.
