Crazy Eyes Upped to Series Regular on 'Orange is the New Black'

Uzo Aduba as "Crazy Eyes"

She threw her pie for you, and now she will return for season two of ‘Orange is the New Black.’ Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on Netflix’s original series, has been upped to a series regular.

Aduba has a limited TV background, with her previous work primarily in stage theatre. She has already impressed with her small role, standing out among the large cast of OITNB.

Crazy Eyes throws her pie for PiperAfter the series promoted some other characters to series regulars over the past few weeks, this one was a no brainer.

There is anticipation that we will get to peer into the pre-prison life of Crazy Eyes for the next season. The show’s format consists of flashback moments where we learn about an inmate’s early life.

Crazy Eyes was the ultimate scorned lover in season one, reacting to Piper’s rejection in extreme ways. The crazy side of the character is definitely there (pie throwing, public urination), but Aduba brings moments that show her character’s softer side. Let’s hope both the crazy and the soft side of the character continues into next season.

Because Crazy Eyes is such a fun character, there is no doubt that the writers of the show must try to resist incorporating her into too many storylines, which might upset the show’s balance. Of all the bizarre characters that play contrast to Piper Chapman, Crazy Eyes is on another level.

Are you excited to see Uzo Aduba retun as Crazy Eyes for season two?
