‘Sharknado’ Sequel Finally Earns a Title Thanks to Fans

Drop what you’re doing, because we have some extremely exciting news! A title for the ‘Sharknado’ sequel has finally been revealed...and it’s a “doozie.”

Are you ready? The sequel will be called: ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One,’ Entertainment Weekly has exclusively revealed. Yes, that’s the name of the upcoming Syfy TV movie revolving around sharks and tornadoes.

Because of its success, Syfy reached out to fans for help in naming the sequel. The network asked fans to submit names via Twitter and more than 5,000 suggestions were submitted.

“Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name ‘Sharknado 2,’” Thomas Vitale, Syfy’s executive vice president of programming, said. “This response is another reminder of how ‘Sharknado’ has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum.”

When it first aired, ‘Sharknado,’ which starred Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, took the TV world by storm. Despite it’s airing last month, it seems people are still somewhat obsessed with the small screen movie. Boston, New York and Seattle recently provided midnight showings for fans -- and each one sold out!

This really is the little movie that could. Expect ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ to air sometime July 2014.

Are you excited for the sequel? What do you think of the name?

When it comes to this whole "Sharknado pheomenon" deal thingie I am still in a state of shock and disbelief. Then again, my roomie (53) eats these "cheap as hell low budget no acting required" trash tv movies like a fat kid eats free candy. So a while ago I asked her why that is and her answer confused me even more. She said, and I quote, "it's not about the story or action or anything like that. these movies are so entertaining because they are so damn bad which is funny." And yes, she can't wait until Sharknado gets released over here :/ I don't get it :(

I'm waiting for Paranhacondanado. I would also enjoy Poopaconda, about sewer anacondas and it's sequel Poopacondanado. I will be copyrighting those names and ideas, so no stealing.
