'Boss's Connie Nielsen Joins 'The Following' (Possibly Major Spoilers)

Connie Nielsen on Boss

When we last saw actress Connie Nielsen on our TV screens, she was playing Mayor Tom Kane's wife Meredith on the Starz series 'Boss.' The Kanes' marraige was a loveless one created solely for convenience, so let's hope she fares better in her new role on FOX's 'The Following.' According to TVLine, Nielsen will join the regular cast as a love interest for lead character Ryan Hardy, played by Kevin Bacon.

Nielsen will portray the character of Lily Gray, a Soho based art dealer who ends up in hot water. Ryan comes to her aid, and sparks quickly fly between the two. Knowing the tendendency of anyone that Ryan cares about to meet their maker in a particularly brutal fashion, I can't help but assume that a romance with Mr. Hardy will not prove beneficial to Lily's survival prospects.

Now that we've covered the particulars, let's ask the question that every 'Following' fan probably asked themselves back in the first paragraph: If Ryan is getting a new love interest, doesn't that mean that the early death of Natalie Zea's Claire Matthews is 100% confirmed for season two?

Claire Matthews

No official word has been uttered on the subject of what Lily's addition means for Claire by either the network or the show's producers, but let's be honest here, Claire probably isn't long for this world. Ryan loves Claire, and she reciprocates. If she lives, there is no way they would break up again, and Ryan doesn't seem like the type of guy that would cheat on her. As a fan of both the Claire character and actress Natalie Zea, color me displeased.

Do you think Connie Nielsen will be a good addition to 'The Following's cast? How soon in season two will Claire bite the dust?

Who watches The Following? The same brain dead viewing Revolution? The endless kidnap and return got boring real fast. Then again 24 was like that. Just too many filler episodes to make them decent tv. This could be a decent show with 8 to 12 episodes. The actors could shine and unnecessary crap wouldn't be required as filler.
