Cinderella is returning to the universe of 'Once Upon a Time,' but not quite in the way you'd expect.
It was confirmed this week that Jessy Schram, the actress who played the Disney princess in the first season of the ABC fantasy drama, will be returning to the 'Once Upon a Time' universe, playing the iconic role for the first time since Season 1's "Skin Deep."
But here's the twist: she'll be returning via the spin-off series, 'Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,' that is slated to kick off in October.
Co-creator Adam Horowitz confirmed at the recent D23 expo that Cinderella would be making an appearance in the first episode of the spin-off. Schram later took to Twitter to confirm her return: "I am what he says I am :)," she tweeted.
"Yay!" Horowitz replied.
Schram's long absence from the series has been due to her involvement in other shows: she was a main cast member of the short-lived ABC series 'Last Resort,' and she recurred throughout the first three seasons of the TNT alien invasion drama 'Falling Skies,' though she has since departed from that series.
There is no word yet on whether or not Schram will be returning to the original 'Once Upon a Time,' but I'd put those chances at "more than likely."
'Once Upon a Time in Wonderland' premieres Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on ABC.
