If you know and love modern sci-fi/monster movies, chances are you're very familiar with the work of uber-talented actor Doug Jones. That said, you may not be familiar with the face pictured below. Jones is best known for his roles under make-up and or computer enhancement as various aliens, creatures, and other assorted inhuman beasties. In fact, I'd wager those reading this would be much quicker him to recognize him in these photos:
That first photo is of Doug as Dr. Abe Sapien, the acquatic member of the B.P.R.D. in Guillermo Del Toro's 'Hellboy' films. The second pic of is your innermost nightmares and/or the Pale Man monstrosity from Del Toro's horror/fantasy masterpiece 'Pan's Labyrinth. In addition to his collaborations with the visionary director, Jones also portrayed the lead 'Gentleman' on the classic 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' episode 'Hush', the Silver Surfer in the second 'Fantastic Four' film, and recently, friendly alien "Cochise" on TNT's 'Falling Skies.'
According to TVLine, Jones' next stop will be Beacon Hills, home to popular MTV supernatural drama 'Teen Wolf.' Very little is known about Jones' role yet, but we do know that he is a "known killer" named Barrow. Whether that means he'll be a human monster or a lycanthrope is still unclear. Knowing Jones' history, I'm putting my money on werewolf. Jones's character will make his first appearance shortly after the series returns in January for part two of season three.
Are you excited to see Doug Jones get hungry like the wolf? Or is the show just not your cup of tea?
