'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' just keeps looking better and better.
Entertainment Weekly exclusively announced that Ian Hart, British star of small and silver screen, has joined the upcoming ABC series in a recurring capacity. Just like with the recent casting of David Conrad ('The Ghost Whisperer') and J. August Richards ('Angel'), the details about Hart's character are remaining top secret. All we know is that he will be playing a scientist... but will he be working for S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?
Forty-nine year old Hart was born in Liverpool, England and has been appearing on television and in feature films since the early 1980s. Hart is best known for his roles in 'Michael Collins,' 'Harry Potter & The Philosopher's and/or Sorcerer's Stone,' 'Dirt,' and the short-lived HBO series 'Luck.' Since 'Luck's untimely cancellation, Hart has appeared regularly on two different television series: 'My Mad Fat Diary' and 'Rogue.' Along with his upcoming appearance in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' for ABC, Hart will be appearing in 'Klondike,' the highly-anticipated Discovery Channel miniseries which marks Discovery's first foray into scripted drama.
It seems that 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' is collecting scientists lately. Given that the unwritten rule on the series is that every super-powered happenstance should be scientifically explained, it seems that we can expect a lot of scenes with science-fiction explanations of impossible heroics. No word yet on how the show intends to explain Marvel's more mythical characters such as Thor and Loki, but if anyone could figure it out it's Joss Whedon.
Fan-favorite actor Clark Gregg is returning to reprise his fan-favorite role from 'Marvel's The Avengers,' Agent Phil Coulson. Cobie Smulders ('How I Met Your Mother') is appearing, reprising her role as Agent Maria Hill. Phil Coulson assembles a small, highly select group of Agents including: Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May and Chloe Bennet as the mysterious computer hacker Skye.
'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' debuts Sept. 24, 2013 on ABC.
