Very, very sad news today 'Grey's Anatomy' fans. Sandra Oh, who has played the complicated and snarky Cristina Yang on the medical drama for the past 9 seasons, has decided that she will be leaving the show at the end of Season 10. Cristina Yang is my favourite character on 'Grey's Anatomy' and I am truly sad to hear that she will be moving on.
Oh decided to break the news to her co-workers today during the table read for the series' 200th episode. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Oh said about her departure, "Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go. It’s such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well. Cristina wants to be let go, and I am ready to let her go. We have to start the process, story-wise, for the Grey’s writers to think of why she’s going to go.”
'Grey's Anatomy' creator Shonda Rhimes has promised that she will be giving Cristina "the exit she deserves." I swear to you, Shonda, you better not break my heart again like you did with George. I am going to miss the dynamic between Meredith and Cristina, which when all else has gone a little crazy in the series, has always been a constant source of entertainment and familiarity.
Are you said to hear that Sandra Oh is leaving 'Grey's'? How do you think her character should be written out of the show?
