Untitled Ed Helms Project Coming to ABC

Ed Helms

Ed Helms of ‘The Daily Show’ and 'The Office,’ will executive produce an untitled project for ABC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Helms will work with comedy writer Mike Arnold, who has written a couple episodes of the animated comedy ‘Archer.’

Like ‘The Office,’ the show will be a single-camera comedy.

The series will follow a storyline of a big fish in a small pond. A big-city female attorney with some issues, adjusts to her new life after moving to a small town. Helm’s father was an attorney, so it is possible that some of the show’s material may draw from his experience, or from stories of people that his father knew.

There is no word yet on if Helms will have an on-screen role in the project. Since the lead role is female, he could have a smaller character role, or appear only occasionally, if he even does at all.

Helms inherited a major role in ‘The Office’ when his character Andy Bernard took over as the office boss after Steve Carell’s departure from the show.

Since ‘The Office’ ended its series run a few months ago, Helms has been involved in different types of comedy projects. He recently starred in the Mumford & Sons music video for ‘Hopeless Wanderer’ (below), with fellow comedic actors Jason Bateman, Will Forte, and Jason Sudeikis.

Does this sound like a fun premise for a show? Would you like to see Helms have an on-screen role?
