'Chicago Fire' Casts Mena Suvari in Recurring Role

Mena Suvari joins Chicago Fire

The second season of NBC's 'Chicago Fire' is heating up.

Deadline reports that 'American Beauty' and 'American Pie' star Mena Suvari will be joining the cast of its ensemble firefighter drama in its upcoming sophomore season.

Suvari will take on the role of Isabella, a close friend of Monica Raymond's character, Dawson. She arrives on the scene to help Mouch (Christian Stolte) in his campaign to become President of the Chicago Firefighters' Union. Creators are keeping mum, but it appears that while Mouch and Isabella will keep things professional the same can't be said for the union representative's fellow firefighters -- expect for sparks to fly between Suvari's character and one of the lucky boys at Firehouse 51.

While Suvari has mainly stuck to big screen roles, she has previously made small screen appearances in 'Six Feet Under' and 'American Horror Story.' She can next be seen in the horror film 'Last Stop,' co-starring Brian Austin Green.

The actress joins the already announced new addition to the recurring cast in Michelle Forbes ('Homicide: Life on the Street'), who will portray a high-ranking consultant tasked with addressing budgetary and performance issues at the firehouses. Given the leadership role that Mouch is vying for, one could presume that the two actresses could butt heads and add a little more spark to series.
