The World to J.J. Abrams: "What the hell is this?"

Question Mark

J.J. Abrams is a man of many hats. He's a director, producer, writer, and all around Hollywood renaissance man. He created 'Lost,' 'Felicity' and 'Alias,' he's won two Emmys, helmed blockbuster films like 'Super 8,' and is the first and only filmmaker to engage in a polygamous relationship with both the 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' franchises at the same time. So naturally, when J.J. Abrams talks, the world listens. And when he releases a minute-long video that makes no freaking sense, the world watches and asks the question posed in the headline. Mr. Abrams, just what the hell is this?

If you can't watch the embedded video for some reason, it features a weird narrator, a long-haired man waking up on some kind of mysterious beach, a dude with his mouth sewn shut for some reason, and the phrase "Soon he will know." Ooooookay then. He might know soon, but I think everyone else would like to know now. The Bad Robot company logo flashes by at the beginning, so we definitely know it's for some kind of new project. Is it a movie? A TV series? A web series? A video game? The odd new direction 'Star Wars' is going in? A 'Lost' prequel? An unauthorized biopic of Michael Jackson? Don't ask me, because I don't have a clue. Neither does anyone else. Feel free to speculate on just what this whole thing is leading to below. Your guess is as good as mine.

Could be a trailer for the half-life film... but AFAIK it hasn't even started production yet

Whats the odds it's yet another project that Borrows {steals} the concept from another show. Watching this made me think of John Doe (TV series) that stared Dominic Purcell. Person with no memory of who he is get washed up on shore ...Who is he ... Where did he come from. Good show that only lasted the one season but just like Abrams "Nearly Human" yet another clone of an older show

The guy at 0:49 reminds me of a young Michael Berryman.
