300 episodes is a lot of television. The amount of scripted primetime series to reach that number can be counted on just three hands. I'm not sure where you'd have gotten the third hand from, but I don't judge. Anyway, venerable CBS crime drama 'CSI' is gearing up to cross the big 3-0-0 threshold, and a special guest is coming back to help them celebrate.
Marg Helgenberger was a series regular from the very beginning, portraying Asst. Night-Shift Supervisor Catherine Willows for 11.5 seasons. Helgenberger left the series in the middle of season 12, with her last episode (entitled 'Willows in the Wind') airing on Jan. 25, 2012. Catherine hasn't graced our TV screens since, but that's all about to change.
According to TVLine, Helgenberger has signed on to appear in the as yet untitled 300th episode of 'CSI', which will likely hit the air in late October. The episode revolves around a cold case that serves as a blast from the past for the 'CSI' team. The suspect's M.O. on a new murder matches this 14-year-old case exactly, leading the team to wonder whether it is the same killer striking again after all these years. No word yet on if other original lead actor William Petersen will make an appearance, but fans can certainly hope.
Are you excited to have Marg Helgenberger back on the 'CSI' team, if only for one episode?
