Season 2 of ‘The Following’ will gain veteran TV actor Keith Carradine. He will join the cast in a recurring role, playing Barry, a strong friend of central character Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon).
Carradine has a long list of TV credits, notably, roles on ‘Fast Track,’ ‘Damages,’ and ‘Missing.’ He had a strong performance as Wild Bill Hickock on ‘Deadwood.’ He also played FBI agent Frank Lundy on ‘Dexter,’ a role which garnered him wide acclaim.
This is the second actor from ‘Dexter’ to join the cast of ‘The Following.’ Sam Underwood (character Zach Hamilton of ‘Dexter’) will play Luke this season, a role where he is said to be a follower of Joe Carroll.
This season of ‘The Following’ expects somewhat less attention surrounding the FBI, as we see more about Hardy and his personal relationships. A couple months ago, Kevin Bacon suggested that Hardy would be “in a very different place in his life.” He indicated that he would be more “together.” Perhaps Carradine as Barry will somehow assist Hardy in maintaining his composure as the season develops. Barry may be the one to get him off the booze and bring his life into balance. We will have to wait and see.
Carradine is added to a list for season 2 that already includes: Valerie Cruz, Connie Nielsen, Tiffany Boone, James McDaniel, and Jessica Stroup.
Season 2 of ‘The Following’ will premiere in Jan. of 2014 on Fox.
