'Us & Them' Gains Aasif Mandvi and Michael Ian Black

Aasif Mandvi

Aasif Mandvi and Michael Ian Black will have recurring roles on Fox’s ‘Us and Them.’

The single-camera comedy, based on British series ‘Gavin & Stacey,’ already stars Jason Ritter, Alexis Bledel, Ashlie Atkinson, and Kurt Fuller.

‘Us & Them’ is about an online relationship between Gavin (Ritter) who lives in New York, and Stacey (Bledel) who lives in Pennsylvania. When they decide to finally meet, they find out that their family and friends—despite their intentions—are interfering with their blooming relationship.

Aasif Mandvi will play Dave Coaches, an ex of Nessa (Atkinson), who does security for Dave Matthews Band.

Michael Ian BlackMichael Ian Black will play Brian, the brother of Stacey’s late father, who is now acting as family protector.

Mandvi might be best known for his work as a “correspondent” for ‘The Daily Show.’ He recently had a role in ‘The Internship.’ Both prior to and during his TV and Film career he has had a long run doing theater work. In 2012, he starred in ‘Disgraced,’ which won a Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Black started his career in a comedy troup that later had an MTV show called ‘The State.’ Since then he has done both writing and acting work, being a part of ‘Ed,’ ‘Burning Love,’ and ‘You’re Whole.’

At the moment, this feels like a solid core cast. Do you like the addition of Mandvi and Black?

Great cast, but I fear that it will be yet another terrible US remake of a great UK show. The Office and House of Cards are about the only good US remakes.

Aasif is hillarious - and also don't discount his drama skills. He was a great asset to Jericho as "Dr. Kenshi Dualia." The man also has some real acting chops.

Aasif Mandvi is an asset to any comedic production. I just hope he doesn't leave The Daily Show.
