Earlier we reported that Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez had each signed on the dotted line as judges for the upcoming season of 'American Idol.' Rumors have swirled over just who would take a seat in the third judging chair and earlier this weekend, FOX answered that question. The third 'American Idol' judge will be none other than musician, writer and producer--all-around music mogul--Dr. Luke.
Dr. Luke (born Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald) is the hottest thing in record producing at the moment, being largely responsible for the successes of Katy Perry and Ke$ha, amongst others. He has more than 20 songs that have debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, and his biggest hits include Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone," Flo Rida’s “Right Round," Kei$ha’s “Tik Tok," Katy Perry’s “California Gurls," “I Kissed A Girl," “Teenage Dream," “Hot n Cold” and Part Of Me," Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite," Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” and Britney Spears’ “Circus." Now that's a helluva resume.
Luke is a talented musician in his own right, who first rose to prominence as the lead guitarist in 'Saturday Night Live's in-house band. This gig allowed Luke to work closely with all of the biggest musical acts in America over a ten year period. Luke parlayed that intimate knowledge into a career in producing, where he has proven to be one of the most talented eyes for the "next big thing" available.
Additionally, Randy Jackson--a long-time 'Idol' judge--is in negotiations to transition from judge to in-house mentor on the program. What do you think of the new panel set up for 'American Idol'?
