AT&T Commercial Star in Talks to Join ‘Saturday Night Live’

Does the guy in the photo look familiar? He should, since he’s made a hit out of AT&T and its commercials.

His name is Beck Bennett and he’s known for talking cellphone issues with young children. In my opinion, the commercials are genius and hilarious. Bennett’s interaction and comedy with the kids is pure brilliance.

Well, fans of Bennett might be enjoying his presence even more, as he’s in talks to join the upcoming season of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Deadline reported last week. Bennett along with comedian John Milhiser, actress Noel Wells, performer Kyle Mooney and SNL writer Michael Patrick O’Brien are all top candidates to become featured players this year. NBC has yet to release an official announcement.

Bennett and Mooney aren’t strangers to comedy, as they are currently members of the sketch comedy team Good Neighbor. Despite the rumored reports of these two joining the SNL ranks, the two have a deal with Comedy Central. According to Deadline, “there is an effort to work things out.”

If that’s not enough, Bennett, Mooney, Milhiser and Wells have also all been performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where current SNL members Bobby Moynihan and Kate McKinnon showcased their work in the past. As for O’Brien, he’s already performed on SNL and even hosts his own show, ‘7 Minutes of Heaven’ on Yahoo!

With Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Seth Meyers (who will depart mid-season to host ‘Late Night’) all leaving this year, SNL is in need of some fresh faces and comedy.

Out of all the potential new cast members, I’m most excited to see Bennett. I just can’t get enough of him on the AT&T commercials. Admittedly, I don’t watch the late-night NBC comedy sketch show, but if Bennett joins, I just might have to tune in!

I think he's great and I love the commercials, but SNL hasn't been funny for years. I'm not going to waste my time watching that horrible show.
